another week without a proper letter
Today’s another day without a newsletter, and here’s why:
We are currently trying to sell our house, which is exhausting - not just the paperwork, or the cleaning, or organising viewings, but the mental load of it all, the endless things to consider (schools, amenities, transport…)
My daughter has got into a bedtime habit where, after I’ve spent twenty-five minutes reading to her, she spends forty-five minutes kicking off her covers, variously insisting her legs are not under her control or that her cuddly animals are ‘having such a noisy party she can’t sleep’
Most exciting of all, I met with an editor from a publisher a few weeks back - an actual, real-life editor - who expressed an interest in buying my book, subject to some revisions. So I’ve spent a lot of this week replotting it in a fancy spreadsheet to see whether that’s a goer.
I have read, or am reading, some excellent books - namely Chris Power’s A Lonely Man, Chuck Wendig’s The Book of Accidents, and Luke Smitherd’s You See the Monster.
I also read Adam Nevill’s The Ritual, about which I have - thoughts.
All that fun will have to wait until next week, though. I hope you’ll be patient with me. It’s possible I’ll need to switch to a fortnightly model for these letters, or switch the days they come out, but I’m not planning that just yet.
For now, I’m just very, very tired.
Until next time,
